Good Vibrations
because life is better with a soundtrack

I posted this a few months ago, but youtube.com removed the video of Lauryn Hill performing this live. Instead, I have decided to post the words:

Motives and Thoughts

By: Lauryn Hill

Motives And Thoughts
Rotating bodies, confusion of sound
Negative imagery, holding us down
Social delusion, clearly constructed
Human condition, morals corrupted

Trapped in reaction, lawlessness war
Dissatisfaction from bowels to core
Devil’s technology, strategy for
Human mythologies, urban folklore

Sick of psychology, counterfeit cure
Wicked theology, robbing the poor
Scheme demonology mislead the pure
Strictly strategically studying war

My 2-year-old niece and 5-year-old nephew are in town and staying at my house for the week. Sometimes I forget how it is to be a kid – to wake up early in the morning refreshed and excited for a new day; smearing food all over your face while enjoying a wonderful meal with no shame. I find myself staring at them for hours while they talk and play, in astonishment. They are absolutely oblivious to the fact that in [...]

Ok – so I know many blogs/websites across the world-wide-web have posted and reposted this video, but I really love the concept and I dig the lyrics.

Joel 2:11: “The Lord thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty are those who obey his command. The day of the Lord is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?”

Ephesians 6:12 – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, [...]

Every summer, when the temperature increases a few notches, the clothes become more scarce, the skin gets browner, the hair reverts back to the natural curl, a new season of possibility dawns. From summer vacations, to summer jobs – it is a time to meet new people, visit new places, try new things.

This summer I traveled to the motherland for the first time, specifically, Cape Town, South Africa. Of course, it was no accident that I chose to do [...]

Dear Lord,
I humbly come before you with a heart fill with thanksgiving. Thank you for another day. You did not withhold another sun rise because of the many mistakes I made yesterday, nor did you withhold another breath from my lungs when I didn’t speak in love to my friends, coworkers, and parents. You have been good to me, even when I didn’t deserve it. And not only did you wake me up, but I have my health, I have [...]

With so much education and prestige, I find more of us professonals (and professonals-to-be) engage in recretional simulants/depressants for a release. We sit in bars after a long day of class or work to get our fix, under the guise of networking. We roll or stuff pipes with green herbs, relying on the medical record that they are not addictive and can’t lead to overdose calamities like other substances.

But at the root of the issue is our minds. Like [...]

I have been a little disturbed about the stories I have been hearing on the news lately. The other day, I heard a news story while I was in my car about a young girl in New Jersey who basically sold her little 7 y/o sister as a prostitute to get money. I was floored – and to honest, I could not help but turn off the radio and have a moment to wipe my tears. That really broke my [...]

I came across this story on Concreteloop.com:

Meet Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher of North Carolina. They have been married 85 years (86 in May) and hold the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the longest marriage of a living couple and get this…. Zelmyra is 101 years old and Herbert is 104.

The happily married couple TEAMED UP WITH TWITTER THIS VALENTINE’S DAY to answer some relationship questions. Check out their take on finding love, getting through hard times and more. Good read.
