As spring slowly creeps and winter lingers, I start to realize truly how time flies. But as the seasons change signifying the passing of days, I can’t help but to live in memories as I anticipate what new things await me. And the things that make the most impressions on my memories are the feeling of physical pain or emotional highs. Maybe that is the minds natural protective mechanism for steering favorable future life decisions.

I guess the mind [...]

I hate to write when I’m in a funk because I alway cringe when I go back to read my thoughts – in fact, there have been many posts that I have totally deleted out of a fury to save face.

So much to do, so little motivation.

Why the hell is France bussing off shots at the home of Ivory Coast’s president – and think that is okay?

Why the hell is the US involved in another country’s civil dispute? [...]

I will be away – or at least I should be – for a while, while I study for finals. But come December, I am going to be a music hound.

I like you for tomorrowfor all that you may be in a future that has not come, for what you may have been yesterday when I was not around, for your mind that thinks what your mouth may never say, for those precious special moments that may be spent in your presence when the moon is full, for the hope you bring in your promises yet to be fulfilled, for leaving room for imagination to run wild and free, [...]

I have finally decided to get my butt back in the gym, with a little added push from my friend. Although like many things, the start was daunting. However, once I was on the eliptical machine, I realized that it wasn’t so bad. With no head phones or ipod to distract my mind for thirty-five minutes of rote movement, my focus was on the time – which seemed to be at a standstill. As the time slowly ticked second-by-second, I [...]

Many people do not know that I grew up on classical music. In fact, gospel and classical music were the ONLY types of music that I was allowed to listen to. We all played classical music and went to a music school. My sister was the only one who continued in her music career, while my brother and I decided to pursue other career paths. This my sister’s quartet, Ebony Strings.

Looking for a legal job is just like dating. The chick is the law student and the guy is the employer. The chick (law student) flashes her stats to the employer – nice round resume, pretty cover letter, lovely transcript. The employer can’t resist and approach the law student to meet(interview). The law student goes to meet, all dressed up in her best gear. The employer comes to see if there is a spark. If the [...]

Law school is a funny machine. On one arm, students are encouraged to be social. This is important because networking is the way to build a “stable career in law”. On the other hand, my grade depends on my neighbor’s failure; we are constantly reminded that “you are graded on a curve – someone’s got to get the D” or to “look to your left and your right…one of you will not be here next year.” A spirit of selfishness, [...]

This summer, school and work opportunities took me to Rio, Brazil, and to Houston, Texas, two places I have never lived or stayed for an extended period of time. Rio taught me to blend in and Houston taught me to be comfortable being me. This weekend, I drove back to Brooklyn, NY for the first time since I left with all my things packed in a van last August. I drove back with only one suitcase packed, and this time [...]
