As the holidays are upon us, I have been having one problem – I don’t want to celebrate.
1. I don’t believe that Christmas is a real holiday – at least as it pertains to my Christian beliefs. Most know that Christmas is never mentioned in the bible as a holy day for Christians. Christ never says anything about celebrating his birth – Christ only mentions remembering his death (communion – the body and blood) which was the act that saved us all from our sins. Santa Claus…enough said. And gifts were only given to the messiah, not to his mother, his father, or even to the man who owned the stable. So why is it that I have to spend my money again??
2. New Years is usually spent doing the same thing I always do, partying. People are guaranteed to be drunk, clubs and venus are guaranteed to be super expensive, and I am guaranteed to be around a bunch of people I hardly know. I really and truly want to sit and reflect. Go to a night church service and bring it in the right way this year.
3. My birthday – New Years Eve. It is too late to have a party. I don’t want to even plan one at this point.
What do I want to do you ask? Nothing – I want to be home, in my jammies, eating popcorn and drinking ginger tea, and listening to music. Maybe next year I will have more vigor to celebrate, this year, I’m all out of juice.
